All is Vanity
by Rowena Whaling

I saw a man walking through the sands of time
I saw a man with doubts and fears the same as mine
He looked at all he’s learned and called it lie
He came upon a well that had run dry
His spirit issued forth unto the earth where it began…

All Is Vanity…
The man was just like me…
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man…

I saw his wife she found the man his bones turned dry
I saw his wife she kissed the bones and then she cried
She called out to her God with tear-stained face
He answered her with love and his embrace
“It never is too late to know my grace…
But you must understand –

All is Vanity…
Unless you can believe”
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man…

There is a time…
For every purpose under Heaven
A time to die and a time to come to life
We sow and we reap
Take for granted all that’s given…
We dance and we sing…  We laugh and then we cry
Wise one or fool beggar or king
We all turn to dust and we share one more thing
That all is vanity… unless we can believe…
There lives eternity… in the heart of man

I saw a man arise from sleep where he lay dead
Earth, moon and stars fell to their knees inside his head
And he awoke to faith in humankind…
The spirit of his heart was good and kind…
He cherished every work that he could find
With God to guide his hand

All Is Vanity…
I knew the man was me…
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man
Oh – Oh –
I saw a man…
